Unified Police officers on Friday were searching for a man — with red dye on him — they believe is linked to two credit union robberies that took place in as many days.
Just before 4 p.m., the suspect walked into the Utah First Credit Union at 6939 S. 900 East, in Midvale where he gave the teller a note demanding cash, stating he was armed, then left on foot with an undisclosed amount of money, said Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal. No weapons were displayed and no one was injured. The red dye pack attached to the money exploded on the man outside of the building. Moments earlier he walked into the Granite Credit Union a block north and asked a question, but then left.
The suspect is described as a white male in his mid- to late 30s wearing a blue button down shirt and tan khaki pants and a black beanie. The man was also wearing a faux bushy mustache, an eye patch and an bandage under his eye and has had his arm in a sling.
On Thursday, a man with an almost identical description robbed a Cyprus Credit Union in Taylorsville.
"This appears to be the same suspect," Hoyal said of the man wanted in both robberies.
The man is considered armed and dangerous.
