West Valley City police are investigating a drive-by shooting Thursday in which a teenager suffered a minor injury to his leg.

Sgt. Mike Powell said a bullet grazed the leg of a 14- or 15-year-old boy.

The shooting occurred Thursday evening at a home near 4000 W. 4300 South. Powell described it as a "typical" drive-by shooting, saying multiple shots were fired at the home.

The shooter may have been driving a red Ford Explorer.

Powell said they had two other reports Thursday evening of shots fired, but they were not confirmed. He said they were likely fireworks and they were not related to the drive-by shooting.
