A 29-year-old West Valley City man was arrested Wednesday after police say he was the owner of two pipe bombs that were found in an impounded vehicle the day before.

On Tuesday, the Salt Lake City Police destroyed two pipe bombs that had been found in an impounded vehicle. Workers at the repossession company that seized the vehicle from a location in West Valley City alerted police after they were cleaning the truck and found what they thought were pipe bombs.

The Salt Lake City Police Department passed several leads over to the West Valley City police, who were able to identify the man as a possible suspect. West Valley City police Sgt. Mike Powell said the man had possession of the vehicle at some point.

Early Wednesday night, a search warrant was served to the man's home, near 5000 W. Pavant Avenue (3710 South). West Valley police officials said they located the suspect at the home, along with evidence related to the investigation.

The man was booked into the Salt Lake County jail on suspicion of two counts of possession of an explosive device.
