Col. Clark R. Roberts will take command of Camp Williams Saturday in a 10 a.m. ceremony organized by the Utah National Guard at the camp's headquarters building.

Roberts, a resident of Roy, joined the Utah Army National Guard in 1983 and received his commission as an officer in 1985, the guard said in a news release. He deployed in 2005-06 as a manager of the Army Intelligence and Security Command's worldwide linguist contract for Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Northern Africa and Guantanamo Bay.

In his civilian career, he is an auditor with the Air Force Audit Agency at Hill Air Force Base.

He succeeds Col. Edward M. Willis, of South Jordan, who took command of Camp Williams in 2010. He is retiring from the military after 29 years of service but will continue to teach biology at Riverton High School.

Also Saturday, Col. Kenneth L. Gammon, director of the Utah National Guard's Joint Staff, will be promoted to brigadier general in a 2 p.m. ceremony at the Utah Air National Guard Base.

Gammon, of Kaysville, enlisted in the Utah Air National Guard's 299th Range Control Squadron in 1984. He was commissioned in 1988 and joined the Utah Air Guard's full-time technician force in 1991. In 2003-04 he deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
