No arrests have been made in a Box Elder County shooting that left one Ogden man hospitalized.

Box Elder County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Kevin Potter said Salt Lake City resident Kevin Angus, 61, told police that he shot 41-year-old Frank Richins in self-defense.

Potter said investigators did not arrest the man because they felt his account was plausible, but said the case has been turned over to the Box Elder County Attorney's Office, who will review for any possible charges.

The incident occurred at about 8:40 p.m. Thursday at the Dove Creek Estates, 68200 W. 15722 North, when the two man began arguing.

The situation escalated, and ended in gunfire. Angus told police that Richins had threatened him with a gun.

Richins' wife drove the man from the home where the shooting took place and called police. He was transported by medical helicopter to a hospital. Potter said he did not have an update on the man's condition Friday, but said he was alive.

Potter said the shooting occurred at Angus' home, and said that both men own property in the area.
