Five don't-miss Zion National Park attractions

• Angels Landing • Arguably Utah's most talked-about hike — along with Zion's Narrows — the aptly named Angels Landing is a five-mile round-trip climb of 1,488 feet from the Virgin River to the top of a cliff. This is a strenuous hike with steep drop-offs —and has claimed some lives through the years. It is not for people afraid of heights or with physical limitations. The reward: a stunning view of Zion Canyon.

• Kolob sections • Most visitors miss the stunning scenery in the park's Kolob portions. Accessed via Interstate 15 between St. George and Cedar City, the Kolob Canyons Road leads to a view well worth the drive.

• Pa'rus Trail • This 3½-mile paved trail leads from the Zion Canyon Visitor Center to Canyon Junction. The trail follows the Virgin River and is a popular place to walk and bike.

• Camping at the park • Zion boasts numerous campsites, but the first-come, first-serve spots typically fill by early afternoon. Some sites can be reserved and tent-only areas are available.

• Zion Lodge • Whether you packed your lunch or need to pick one up, the grass in front of the lodge is a great place to take in the scenery with your family while eating. Rooms are available and provide an opportunity for visitors to experience a less-crowded atmosphere when the last shuttles head down the canyon.
