West Jordan has been named one of the top 10 best soccer cities in the U.S.
The Utah city finished eighth best in the soccer standings of a survey conducted by livability.com based on the quality of youth programs, facilities, park systems and other recreational amenities found in small to mid-size cities around the country.
West Jordan received high marks because of the Utah Soccer Complex, which features 20 fields on 117 acres and because of proximity to Rio Tinto Stadium, home of Real Salt Lake, according to a news release.
The city also averages 400 to 700 youth players per year in West Jordan Youth Soccer and hosts seven soccer clubs, making it a haven for Utah fútbol fanatics.
Overland Park, Kan.; Plano, Texas; San Bernardino, Calif.; Rock Hill, S.C.; Murfreesboro, Tenn.; Chapel Hill, N.C.; and Appleton, Wis. beat out West Jordan for the first seven spots on the list.
