A Cottonwood Heights man was charged with arson after his wallet was found near the site of a fire at Tony's Bar in South Salt Lake.

The manager of the bar saw the fire on the roof and east side of the building about 2:30 a.m. April 23, police wrote in charges filed Tuesday. After the manager put out the fire with a garden hose, he and the firefighters found a man's wallet near the scene. The man had been kicked out of the bar a week earlier for fighting, police wrote. Inside the wallet was a receipt for cigarettes and a lighter bought 15 minutes before the manager saw the fire.

The manager said he saw the man's car circling the block about the time of the fire. The man, 41, was charged with first-degree felony aggravated arson.
