An inmate at the Utah State Prison was stabbed Tuesday by his cellmate.

Just before 5:30 p.m., the two men got into an altercation in their cell at the Draper prison, said Steve Gehrke, spokesman for the state Department of Corrections.

The victim, 27, was stabbed multiple times and taken by ambulance to a hospital, medics said. He was expected to survive, Gehrke said.

No weapon has been found, Gehrke said. The subject of the dispute is not known.
