Early registration has begun for the annual Antelope by Moonlight bike ride, which is set for July 6 at 10 p.m.
Riders have until June 22 to register for $22 for riders over 14, $17 for younger riders; the price goes up by $5 after that date. The registration fee includes for park entry, a collector's T-shirt and refreshments. All proceeds go to Friends of Antelope Island, a group which raises money to make enhancements to the state park.
The 22-mile loop route, all on asphalt, begins at the island's marina and turns around at the historic Fielding Garr Ranch.
"Bikers of all ages really like this ride," said Neka Roundy, event planner, in a news release. "There is something special about being on an island at night, and seeing lights on the mainland."
Riders are required to wear helmets and head lamps in accordance with Utah state law. Lights and helmets will be available for purchase at the start of the ride.
Prizes will be awarded to participants who choose to dress up or decorate their bike using this year's theme, "End of the world Mayan meltdown." Judging will begin at 9:30 p.m. at the marina.
