A woman and her son remained in critical condition Tuesday, the day after the motorcycle they were riding was struck by a small SUV in St. George.
St. George police Capt. James Van Fleet said the crash occurred about 7:20 p.m. Monday at the intersection of 200 North and 100 West. Investigators determined that the northbound Chevy HHR crossover vehicle, driven by a 63-year old woman, ran a stop sign and struck the motorcycle driven by 42-year old Anita Haven, of St. George. Haven’s 12-year-old son was riding behind her.

Both the mother, who was not wearing a helmet, and son, who was wearing a helmet, were first taken to Dixie Regional Medical Center and then flown by helicopter to University Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nev., suffering from head and body trauma, Van Fleet said.
The driver of the SUV was cited at the scene for running a stop sign and released.
Investigators do not believe alcohol or drugs were involved in the accident, Van Fleet said.
