The Utah Highway Patrol has cited a man who came forward to take responsibility for a mattress that fell off his vehicle and later caused a fatal motorcycle accident.
UHP Cpl. Todd Johnson said a 53-year-old Fruit Heights man contacted authorities after hearing about the Monday accident on Interstate 15 near Willard in Box Elder County.

Killed when his motorcycle struck the mattress, which had fallen into the southbound lanes, was Royce W. Munns, 46, of Brigham City. Munns was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
The mattress owner was cited with failure to secure a load, but no other charges are anticipated, Johnson said.
