Utah forecast: Heat returns after storm brings cool respite

Thermometers statewide were to climb toward the heat Thursday after cooler temperatures left the region in the wake of a Pacific storm system.

Along the Wasatch Front the mercury was to rise into the upper-70s under clear and sunny skies, up from the mid-60s forecast for Wednesday. In southern Utah,, Wednesday’s predicted upper-80s were to give way to highs in the mid-90s, along under relatively cloudless horizons.

Air quality statewide was rated "Green," or good, according to the Utah Division of Environmental Quality.

Salt Lake City’s high for Thursday was to be 78, up from Wednesday’s forecast for 66 degrees; Ogden looked for 74 and 64, respectively; Provo 79 and 68; Logan 73 and 62; Wendover 76 and 63; Duchesne 79 and 71; Cedar City 82 and 74; St. George 99 and 88; and Moab 88 and 85 degrees.
