Police were looking for a gun-toting bicyclist in connection with a shooting and robbery late Monday night in west Salt Lake City.

Detectives say the alleged incident occurred near 1200 West Mead (1000 South) about 11 p.m. Police learned of the case when a 24-year-old man showed up at a local hospital with a gunshot wound to his arm.

The victim told officers he was sitting in his car when an African-American male rode up on a bicycle and opened fire with a handgun. The man then purportedly stole the victim's wallet and pedaled away.

The victim was able to drive himself home and a relative then took him to the emergency room, where he was treated for the non-life threatening wound.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call police at 801-799-3000.
