A 22-year-old Brigham Young University student fell to his death Saturday while attempting to climb the slippery rocks of a Utah County waterfall.
Authorities identified the man as Adam Perazzo, from Fallon, Nev.
Utah County sheriff's Sgt. Eldon Packer said Perazzo was free climbing about 12:35 p.m. near Stewart Falls in American Fork Canyon when he fell about 70 feet.
Packer said Perazzo was with a group of seven or eight friends who watched him fall. He said the friends and, later, North Fork Fire Department gave the man CPR for about 45 minutes before he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Packer said Perazzo had made it about halfway up the falls when he fell. Packer said it's very common for people to slip and fall in the area because it is wet, slippery and steep.
