Here's your weekly roundup of what local city councils, school boards and other government entities are tackling during regularly scheduled meetings. All meetings are open to the public, and citizens are welcome to voice their opinions during designated times. If you do wish to speak at a particular meeting, you may need to sign up in advance.

Alpine City Planning Commission • Will consider granting a conditional use permit for seasonal sales to Case Lot Fireworks and recommending approval to City Council of a site plan for a tent for firework sales in Mountainville Academy parking lot; Tuesday, June 5, 7 p.m, 20 N. Main, Alpine.

Salt Lake County Council • Will give final consideration to Mayor Peter Corroon's recommendations about membership on a committee overseeing rewriting of Foothills and Canyons Overlay Zone (FCOZ) ordinance; also will hear a proposal to make sanitation an independent agency separate from county government and a report of parks and recreation needs in the county; Tuesday, June 5, starting at 2:15 p.m., 2001 S. West Valley City • The Milk With The Mayor meetings on Wednesday, June 6, have been canceled. The meetings will resume on Aug. 1.

West Valley City Council • Will vote on whether to approve an agreement with Best Friends Animal Society to promote the adoption of homeless pets and to support spay and neuter projects in an effort to turn the animal shelter into a "no-kill shelter; Tuesday, June 5, 6:30 p.m., 3600 S.
