A 14-year-old girl nearly drowned Wednesday in a West Valley City community pool, police said.
The girl was swimming with several other children at the Mountain View Mobile Home Park pool at 2771 S. 2660 West, said West Valley City police Sgt. Paul Gill.

Her mother and mother’s friend were supervising, and when the mother lost sight of the girl about 7 p.m. she got up to check the bathrooms for her, Gill said. As she passed the pool, she saw her daughter suspended underwater in the deep end.
The mother’s friend pulled the girl out, and when paramedics arrived they took her to Pioneer Valley Hospital, where she was revived. The teen was flown to Primary Children’s Medical Center, where she is expected to recover.
