An elderly Arizona couple died Wednesday when their car slammed into a stopped semitrailer truck in Millard County.
The semi driver had heard a noise in his truck and pulled over into an emergency lane on northbound Interstate 15 near Holden, said Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Lawrence Hopper.

About 4:40 p.m., a 2010 Toyota Camry slammed into the back of the semi. Driver Floyd Wells, 74, and Karen Wells, 73, both of Queen Creek, Ariz., died on impact.
Investigators are looking into what caused the crash, but do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors. There were no signs Wells tried to brake before the crash.
It appears the couple were wearing seatbelts, but it wasn’t totally clear due to the damage, Hopper said.
