Event Manager Dustin Stark noted in a news release that Utah ranks eighth in the nation for diabetes-related deaths. He said he hopes Tour de Cure will raise awareness about the disease.
"Tour de Cure allows us to not only raise money for research, advocacy and programs here, but also to educate and connect people to the right resources in town," Stark said in the release.
The event will offer 100-, 80-, 65- and 25-mile ride options plus a one-mile family fun ride.
Registered riders living with diabetes will be designated as "Red Riders" and will receive special encouragement during the race.
