There were some tense moments Friday for firefighters when they rushed to the scene of blaze inside a West Valley City manufactured home community.

West Valley City Fire Battalion Chief Bob Fitzgerald said crews initially feared that two adults and one child were still inside the residence at the Mountain View Mobile Home Park at 2700 W. Parkway Blvd. when the 911 call came in at 10:45 a.m.

"When they arrived they found large volumes of smoke coming from the home. Neighbors stated that they thought the owners were at home at the time, but could not be accounted for," Fitzgerald said.

Firefighters from both West Valley City and neighboring South Salt Lake fought the flames and entering the smoking home and searching for the occupants. No one was inside, and the blaze was contained to one bedroom. After the fire was out, officials confirmed that the occupants had gone out to shop for groceries.

No injuries were reported, but the fire was blamed for an estimated $30,000 in damage.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
