Two brothers were hospitalized Thursday after they were struck by an SUV in Payson.
A 12-year-old boy was riding his bicycle with his 6-year-old brother riding on the foot pegs on the back of the bike when the accident occurred around 8 p.m. near 1400 South and 930 West, said Payson police Lt. Bill Wright.
The boys attempted to turn left from 1400 South onto 930 West, when a full-sized SUV traveling north on 930 West struck the two. Wright said there is a possibility that the boys may have been at fault for the accident because there was a stop sign in the direction they were going. He said the investigation into the accident is ongoing.
Both boys were transported to Mountain View Hospital, but the 6-year-old was later taken by medical helicopter to Primary Children's Medical Center.
Wright said speed did not appear to be a factor in the accident.
