A Sandy man who allegedly robbed a credit union covered up his face, but he didn’t think anyone from the neighborhood would recognize his voice. However, someone at the bank knew him, making for a quick arrest.
On Wednesday afternoon, a 25-year-old white male entered the University Credit Union at 2275 E. Little Cottonwood Road.

Sandy City police Sgt. Jon Arnold says that is when the man committed an armed robbery.
The man — wearing a bandana — held a handgun demanding money from the teller, took an undisclosed amount of money and fled on foot, police say.
Arnold said someone at the bank knew the suspect lived in the area.
"They knew the individual … and recognized him and his voice."
He was arrested at his house about a half hour later. Police spotted him trying to leave his house still wearing some of the same clothes he had on when he allegedly committed the robbery, Arnold said.
