A Panguitch woman was fatally injured when she turned in front of an oncoming, northbound van on U.S. 89 just outside of her home town.
Utah Highway Patrol Corporal Todd Johnson said the resulting collision about 5:30 p.m. Monday "T-boned" the victim's 1986 Oldsmobile.
Mary K. Beck, 30, was pronounced dead shortly after being rushed to a local hospital, UHP said.
The driver and a passenger in the 2006 Chevrolet Express van were not injured, but both were taken to the hospital to be checked out as a precaution, Johnson said.
UHP said Beck was turning south off of Sanford Creek Road at the time of the accident. She was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from her car and then struck by the van, sustaining massive head injuries.
Johnson said Wednesday that troopers found no evidence of drugs or alcohol being involved. "This just appears to have been unsafe movement on [Beck's] part," Johnson said.
