A 30-year-old man was killed after his truck ran over him in an area west of Utah Lake on Saturday morning.
Joel Bryon Larson, of American Fork, died at the scene before emergency crews arrived at the foothills area a few miles south of Saratoga Springs near State Road 68 (Redwood Road).

Witnesses, including family members and the man’s wife, were in the area known as Lake Mountain to go for a ride. At about 10:15 a.m., the man tried to fix a possible issue with a dead battery on the 2007 Chevy Silverado truck they drove to the area, said Utah County Sheriff’s office Sgt. Spencer Cannon.
Larson’s wife told officers the couple was trying to push the truck up to an area where they could coast it down the hill.
Larson was in front of the truck pushing it up, but it rolled forward and down the steep terrain, and Larson couldn’t get out of the way.
"The victim made an effort to stop it and was reportedly run over by the truck," Cannon said.
The wife of the victim had scrapes and bruises from the accident. The couple had been married a little less than a year, Cannon said.
