A 22-year-old man remained in very critical condition Friday, the day after his motorcycle collided with a car making a U-turn in Cottonwood Heights.

Cottonwood Heights police Sgt. Mark Askerlund said the man was traveling westbound on Fort Union Boulevard near 1350 East about 5 p.m. when a woman driving a white passenger car suddenly turned into his path.

"He laid the motorcycle down but still slid, hitting the car broadside. He was transported to the hospital with severe head, face and back injuries," Askerlund said.

No citations had been issued as of Friday. The investigation was ongoing.
