Thursday’s mild spring forecast was the calm before more unsettled and wet weather going into the weekend.

The National Weather Service predicted thunderstorms beginning on Friday afternoon for northern Utah, while for the southern reaches of the state forecasters issued a "Red Flag" wildfire danger warning due to a combination of winds gusting up to 35 mph and tinder-dry high desert lands. The fire danger advisory officially was to kick in at 10 a.m. Friday and run through 10 p.m.
