Plane crashes near Redwood Road in Utah County

A student pilot and his instructor suffered minor injuries when their plane crashed near the Utah County town of Elberta Tuesday.

The pair were practicing stall maneuvers when the privately owned plane lost power, according to the Utah County Sheriff’s Office.

The instructor attempted to land about 18 miles south of Saratoga Springs in a field about a half-mile from State Route 68, also known as Redwood Road. As the plane landed about 1:30 p.m., it caught in the soft dirt and tipped over.

Both the student and instructor sustained non life-threatening injuries, although a medical helicopter transported one person for precautionary treatment.

The FAA was enroute to the scene Tuesday.
