A 36-year-old woman was confirmed dead Friday in a two-vehicle rollover in Spanish Fork Canyon.
Utah Highway Patrol reported that about 6:25 p.m., a 2009 Mazda 3 was northbound on State Road 89 near Birdseye. The driver of the Mazda, the 36-year-old woman, drifted off to the right side of the road and over-corrected into the southbound lanes, UHP reported. The Mazda began to spin after it clipped a southbound Ford Taurus. As it spun, it was rear-ended by a Chevy pickup truck, UHP said. Both vehicles veered off the right side of the road and rolled, landing on their tops. The woman was partially ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene, UHP reported.
A 2-year-old boy, a passenger in the Mazda, was transported by helicopter in critical condition to Primary Children's Medical Center. The driver of the Chevy, a 48-year-old woman, was taken to a hospital in critical condition. The road was temporarily closed for a medical helicopter to land, UHP said.
