Man critically injured after hit by van

First Published Apr 26 2012 11:09 pm • Last Updated Apr 26 2012 11:09 pm

A man was in critical condition late Thursday after being hit by a van in Salt Lake City.

Police Lt. Bryce Johnson said a minivan was westbound about 10:05 p.m. on 400 South when it struck the pedestrian near 900 East. Johnson said police weren’t sure what the pedestrian was doing in the street, and said he wasn’t in a crosswalk when struck. Johnson said it was raining at the time, which made it harder to see.

The man was transported to the hospital in critical condition, he said. The driver of the van, who stopped at the scene, was not injured.
