A 74-year-old Cedar City man has been sentenced to prison for up to 45 years for giving pornography to young boys and then performing sexual acts on them.

Norman Henry Pierce was sentenced Tuesday in 5th District Court. In February, Pierce pleaded guilty to three second-degree felony child sex abuse counts and three third-degree felony counts of dealing in materials harmful to minors.

Pierce was sentenced to one to 15 years in prison on each sex abuse count and the sentences were ordered to run one after the other. He was also sentenced to up to five years in prison on each of the third-degree felonies.

Pierce was arrested in January 2011 after the parents of the boys found the magazines and alerted police.

According to police, one boy said he was abused at least three times between February and July 2010. Pierce would undress and the two would look at the magazines together, police said.

The three boys — ages 8, 9 and 11 — told police they went to Pierce's house to pick up a magazine in January 2011. The man was completely nude and offered them $5 each to touch his genitals, according to a police report.
