A former Jordan School District teacher has been ordered to spend a day in jail and a pay a fine for giving wine coolers and beer to students.
Kylie Nichole Devey, 22, of Herriman, pleaded guilty in March to a class A misdemeanor count for giving alcohol to a former student who was too young to drink. As part of her plea deal, other misdemeanor charges were dismissed.

According to court documents, Devey had been providing alcohol and playing a drinking game called beer pong with students from Herriman High School last fall. The gatherings would happen away from campus, during off hours.
Devey was hired by the school district in 2008. She was an assistant softball coach and worked in the school’s special education department. She resigned on Nov. 21.
Third District Judge Charlene Barlow ordered Devey to spend two years on probation and pay a $1,000 fine.
