Charging documents outline the April 9 incident where Robinson is accused of beating his 25-year-old girlfriend, Shantelle Reid, outside of their home, and then later shooting her. The documents state Murray Police responded to a home at 6341 S. 725 East after witnesses say they saw Robinson slapping and hitting Reid. Witnesses say they also saw him allegedly punch his girlfriend in the face, throw her on the ground and drag her by her hair. But when officers questioned the couple, both denied any physical incident taking place.

Later that day, police went back to the home on a welfare check. A neighbor flagged down an officer and told him that Robinson had been pacing up and down the street with a gun in the back of his pants, documents state. When the officer saw Robinson down the street, he called out his name. Robinson acknowledged the officer, but then jumped behind a fence.

The officer then asked Robinson to show him his hands, and that is when the man pulled out a gun. When the officer told him to drop the gun, court documents state Robinson allegedly placed the gun down his side and began racking the weapon. After the officer asked him once more to drop the gun, Robinson ran. The officer chased Robinson, who stopped after some time, turned around, and pointed the gun at the officer.

The officer then shot and injured the man.

Afterward, officers entered Robinson’s home and found Reid lying at the bottom of the stairs, dead from a gunshot wound.

Court documents state Robinson is restricted from owning a handgun because he had a previous felony conviction for possession of a forged writing.

Robinson is being held at the jail in lieu of $1 million bail. His initial court appearance is scheduled for next Wednesday.
