A man was flown to a hospital by medical helicopter after a crash that closed northbound lanes of a flooded U.S. 89 in Layton, authorities said.
A gold Nissan spun off the road and crashed into a semitrailer truck parked on the side of the road with its flashers on about 10:15 a.m. Thursday, said Layton police Lt. Garret Atkin.

The man driving the Nissan had to be extricated from the wreck near the State Road 193 ramp and was flown to an area hospital, Atkin said.
No one else was injured.
"There was standing water, slush on the road, and it was raining heavily" at the time of the crash, Atkin said.
The crash temporarily closed the northbound lanes of the road.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
