Here's your weekly roundup of what local city councils, school boards and other government entities are tackling during regularly scheduled meetings. All meetings are open to the public, and citizens are welcome to voice their opinions during designated times. If you do wish to speak at a particular meeting, you may need to sign up in advance.

Salt Lake City Council • Holds a public hearing on a proposed ordinance that would allow mother-in-law apartments in most residential areas; Tuesday, April 3, 7 p.m., City Hall, 451 S. State St., Room 315.

South Jordan City Council >> Seeks input on the use of Community Development Block Grant funds, as well as rezoning the Egbert Family Trust Land for commercial use; Tuesday, April 3, 6 p.m., in council chambers at 1600 W. Towne Center Dr. View the agenda at http://bit.ly/HalzaG.

Murray City Council • Holds hearings and then votes on proposed adjustments to council district boundaries and Murray School Board district boundaries; 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, at City Hall, 5025 S. State St.

Sandy City Council • Considers launching negotiations for a clinic to be located in Sandy City Hall to serve city employees and their dependants, and discusses the master plan for the city's civic center corridor; Tuesday, April 3, 6:40 p.m., at the Sandy Senior Center, 9310 S. 1300 East.

West Jordan City Council >> Holds a public hearing on amending city code for non-commercial, political and temporary signs; Wednesday, April 4, at 6 p.m., in council chambers at 8000 S. Redwood Rd. View the agenda at http://bit.ly/gCTxBO.

Provo Municipal Council • Is expected to vote on an ordinance that would lift the rule requiring department heads to live in the city; Tuesday, April 3, 7 p.m., in the council chambers, 351 W. Center St..

Orem City Council • Will conduct a joint meeting with the Alpine School Board; Wednesday, April 4, noon, council chambers, 58 N. State St.

Salt Lake County Council • Has canceled its regular 4 p.m. meeting on Tuesday, April 3, as well as the work session that precedes it. Items previously posted on the agenda, such as revisions to the ordinance governing the Zoo Arts & Parks program, have been pushed back to April 10.
