A Salt Lake City police officer suffered minor injuries Monday afternoon when he was dragged about 50 feet by a car driven by a fleeing drug suspect.

Following a traffic stop at 600 E. Warnock Ave. (2497 South), officers were standing by the open driver's door when they noticed he had illegal drugs, according to a police report.

The driver sped away, dragging the officer, until the vehicle hit another car.

The 24-year-old suspect fled on foot, but was quickly captured.

Both the suspect and the officer were treated for minor injuries at a hospital.

The suspect was booked into the Salt Lake County jail on suspicion of drug possession, fleeing and aggravated assault.
