A homeless man is facing charges after he allegedly picked the wrong victim for an attempted robbery: an FBI agent.

The agent was walking out of a building in Salt Lake County on Tuesday when the 53-year-old walked up to him with his hand in his pocket and told him "Get on the ground, I've got a gun," according to charges filed Friday in 3rd District Court.

He told the homeless man he was an FBI agent and reached for his gun. The man tried to walk away, but the agent stopped him.

He then told the agent he was "just joking about having a gun, and that his hand was in his pocket," charges state.

The man was charged Friday with aggravated assault, a third-degree felony, and intoxication, a class C misdemeanor.
