In Weber County, money from the restaurant tax goes to one place: The Ogden Eccles Conference Center.

The center is the home of the David Eccles Conference Center and Peery's Egyptian Theater. The conference center received $2.4 million in restaurant tax, with $1.8 million going to pay off the bonds for the building.

The center is run by SMG World, the management company that also operates the New Orleans Super Dome and Soldier Field in Chicago.

Marty Smith, the Eccles Center's executive director and general manager, said the center hosts regional conventions, trade shows, weddings and other events. Peery's Egyptian Theater hosts live shows and concerts, and is one of the Sundance Film Festival's official venues.

Smith said the events attract people from around the country and world.
