North Salt Lake police have identified a man found dead near train tracks in the city Sunday, but officials are still trying to determine how he died and why he was found nude.

Police say 27-year-old Brandon Taylor, of Salt Lake City, was spotted near tracks close to 1800 North and Beck Street. The man’s naked body was covered in mud, police have said.

Detectives did not find any clothing or other identifying items. The man was found in a semi-secured, gated railroad right-of-way with just one access point. The man did not have any obvious signs of trauma and police are still investigating the suspicious death.

Police are asking anyone with information to call 801-335-8650.
