It was definitely an odd car for a thief to steal.

Not only will it stick out like a sore thumb anywhere it goes, it doesn't even run.

Instead of stealing a typical modern-day ride, the thief in Riverton picked an antique 1927 Pierce Arrow — a burgundy-colored one, even.

"It is definitely a unique car that would stand out," Unified police Lt. Justin Hoyal said. "Nobody can be driving this thing, either."

Hoyal said residents who live in the area of 13200 South and 1650 West had been storing the Pierce Arrow, which doesn't run, in their barn. Sometime Monday, someone entered the barn and stole their car.

Hoyal said the thief would have had to take the time to load it onto a trailer, and would need some way to tow it in order to cart it around town.
