A driver’s neck was broken in multiple places after a crash involving a drunk driver late Tuesday in St. George, police said.
The victim was driving at the intersection of Westridge Drive and Sunset Boulevard about 11:15 p.m. when his GMC Yukon was struck by a speeding Chevrolet Monte Carlo, St. George police wrote in a press release Wednesday.

The driver of the Monte Carlo had run a red light while traveling west on Sunset Boulevard, police wrote.
The Yukon rolled, and the driver was ejected; the Monte Carlo crashed into the traffic light pole on the northwest corner of the intersection.
An EMT who happened upon the scene was trying to help the victim, when she saw the driver of the Monte Carlo get out of the car and walk away. Officers detained him in the parking lot of a Home Depot.
The victim was flown to a Salt Lake City hospital.
The driver of the Monte Carlo, a 36-year-old St. George man, was booked into jail on suspicion of driving under the influence, driving as an alcohol-restricted driver, negligent collision, leaving the scene of an accident and other offenses, police wrote.
