Snowmobilers OK after chilly night on Utah mountain
First Published Mar 02 2012 07:44 am • Last Updated Mar 02 2012 12:21 pm

Three snowmobilers spent a cold night in northern Utah’s snowy Wasatch-Cache National Forest but were located Friday morning and reported to be uninjured and in good health.

Weber County sheriff’s dispatchers say a search for the three men had begun late Thursday but was called off at nightfall. A Utah Department of Public Safety helicopter spotted the men just after dawn Friday, near Monte Cristo peak, about 40 miles east of Ogden. Rescuers found the men were all right and by mid-morning they had been recovered.

The incident reportedly began when one of the snowmobilers became stuck in deep snow Thursday and called for help from the other two snowmobilers, who are his friends. However, none of the men had returned by late in the day and a search was soon launched.
