Civics Central: D.A. digs get more costly, mingle with Taylorsville mayor

Here’s your weekly roundup of what local city councils, school boards and other government entities are tackling during regularly scheduled meetings. All meetings are open to the public, and citizens are welcome to voice their opinions during designated times. If you do wish to speak at a particular meeting, you may need to sign up in advance.

Salt Lake County Council » Will hear an analysis from the Debt Review Committee about the request for an additional $12 million to build a consolidated District Attorney’s Office in downtown Salt Lake City; Tuesday, 1 p.m., Room 2003, North Building, County Government Center, 2001 S. State St.. The council also will continue discussions of proposed revisions to the Foothills and Canyons Overlay Zone (FCOZ).

Taylorsville » Hosts the Mayor’s Town Hall open house when residents can meet with elected officials and staff; Wednesday, 6-7 p.m. at City Hall, 2600 S. Taylorsville Blvd. (5325 South).

Alpine Board of Education » Plans to vote on a new name for a revamped, alternative high school. East Shore High could become Shadow Ridge, Harbor or Polaris high school; Tuesday, 6 p.m., at Mahogany Elementary, 618 N. 1300 West, Pleasant Grove.

Holladay City Council >> Votes on measures related to alcohol and tobacco offenses and designates authorized staff members and officials to sign and execute checks on the city’s behalf; Thursday, 6 p.m., 4580 S. 2300 East.

Cottonwood Heights City Council >> New police officers will be sworn in and Ryan Shosted will be promoted to sergeant; Tuesday, 7 p.m., at 1265 E. Fort Union Blvd., Suite 300.

Provo Municipal Council » Is conducting a special meeting to set the boundaries for Provo School Board seats; Tuesday, 7 p.m., Municipal Council Chambers, 351 W. Center St.
