After scattered rain and snow showers on Saturday and early Sunday, the forecast calls for a calmer Sunday afternoon with partly cloudy skies and highs near 40 degrees in the north.
Southern Utah will have mostly clear horizons Sunday with highs in the upper 50s.
But come Monday and into Tuesday, the chances for snow and rain return, particularly in northern Utah.
Avalanche danger remained a concern statewide. The Utah Avalanche Center issued "red," or high grades for the mountain slopes near Salt Lake City, Provo, Logan, Ogden, the western Uintas and the Manti-Skyline districts. The Moab area mountains earned "yellow," or moderate risk rating.
Utah’s air quality was expected to remain good through the weekend and into Monday.
Salt Lake City looked for a high temperature Sunday of 40 degrees and 45 on Monday; Ogden was pegged at 38 and 44, respectively; Provo 40 and 45; Logan 36 and 41; Wendover 38 and 40; Duchesne 37 and 41; Cedar City 44 and 45; St. George 58 both days; and Moab 50 and 54 degrees.
