Cottonwood Heights police arrested a man and a woman at an extended stay motel after allegedly finding 100 balloons of heroin and several hundred dollars in cash.

Police Sgt. Mark Askerlund said that officers, following up on investigative leads, raided the unit at 7500 South and 1300 East about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The male suspect, believed to be an undocumented Mexican national who entered the country about two weeks ago, was taken into custody and was still being questioned late Tuesday morning.

The female suspect was believed to be a Utah resident.

Authorities declined to release the names of the suspects, citing the ongoing investigation, but both were expected to be booked into Salt Lake County jail.
