The forecast for northern Utah Friday called for partly cloudy skies and high temperatures in the mid-40s, while clear, sunny horizons and temperatures in the mid-50s were on tap for southern Utah.
The Utah Avalanche Center rated only the western Uintas at "orange" for considerable risk of potentially deadly snow slides, while the mountains near Logan, Ogden, Salt Lake City, Provo and Moab were graded "yellow," or moderate for avalanche risk.

Air quality statewide won a "green" or satisfactory rating, according to the Utah Division of Environmental Quality.
Salt Lake City expected a high temperature Friday of 45, one degree better than the 44 degrees forecast for Thursday; Ogden looked for 42- and 41-degree readings, respectively; Provo 45s; Logan 40 and 39; Wendover 44 and 41; Duchesne 42s; Cedar City 43 and 40; St. George 57 and 55; and Moab 50 degrees both days.
