A Fort Duchesne woman died and another woman was injured in a traffic accident Friday in Uintah County.
The two women, ages 43 and 42, were passengers in a northbound Dodge Durango that tipped onto its side about 6 p.m. on Seep Ridge Road, about 20 miles south of Ouray, said Uintah County sheriff’s spokesman Brian Fletcher on Tuesday.

The 43-year-old walked "quite a distance" from the crash to call for help. She was flown to a hospital in Grand Junction, Colo. and was released later that night. The 42-year-old died at the scene, Fletcher said.
The driver, a man, was not at the scene when officers arrived, Fletcher said. Authorities later found him south of the crash site. Fletcher would not comment on whether the man was trying to flee from officers.
Alcohol is believed to be a factor, Fletcher said.
Because the crash happened on tribal land and all three occupants were tribal members, federal agents have taken over the investigation.
FBI spokeswoman Debbie Dujanovic Bertram said Tuesday no arrests had been made. She said agents are not releasing the victims’ names.
