The body found last week buried in the backyard of a Roy home has been identified as Victor Flores, a California man missing since May.
A tip led Layton police to the home where, after four days of digging, Flores’ body was discovered. Roy Police Chief Greg Whinham says his detectives are now investigating the case as a homicide. According to the Standard Examiner, Flores was stabbed to death.

The 25-year-old Flores came to Layton from San Gabriel, Calif., last year for work and was never seen again, according to police.
In an interview last year with The Salt Lake Tribune, a friend of the Flores family, Sandra Banuelos, said Flores left for Utah on May 7 with a man later identified as Daniel Rivera, who had promised a construction job.
On Monday, the owner of the Roy home, 32-year-old Sarah Nicole Munn, was charged with second-degree felony obstructing justice after police say she had "inconsistencies" in her statements.
According to an affidavit filed in 2nd District Court, Rivera — a 33-year-old Weber County jail escapee currently serving a prison sentence in Gunnison — was cut on May 9 and needed 35 stitches. Munn, originally told police that Rivera was cut in a road-rage incident and later claimed to have caused the cut herself, the document states.
Police say Munn has since offered "a completely different version" of the story.
Rivera, the father of three of Munn’s children, rented a tractor on May 11 and dug a hole in the backyard of their home, 3812 W. 4550 South, according to the affidavit.
Munn told police that the couple had planned to place a trampoline in the hole where the body was found, but that the hole was later backfilled because it was the wrong size, the affidavit states.
Munn is scheduled to next appear in court Feb. 21.
