Dea Millerberg, charged in connection with the death of baby-sitter Alexis Rasmussen, has filed for divorce from her husband — and co-defendant — Eric Millerberg.
The 38-year-old woman made the move to distance herself further from her husband. She filed a divorce petition in Ogden’s 2nd District Court Thursday afternoon shortly after getting out of jail.

Millerberg also filed a motion for a fee waiver in the divorce case, court documents show.
According to jail documents, Millerberg spent less than an hour in the Weber County Jail after having been booked Thursday on charges filed Jan. 31 for one count of third-degree felony abuse or desecration of a body in connection with the Rasmussen case. Her initial court appearance for that charge is Feb. 22.
Alexis Rasmussen’s family called police to report their daughter as missing last September, but the North Ogden teen had already died from a drug overdose and been dumped near the Weber River by the Millerbergs, for whom she had been baby-sitting, prosecutors have said.
Officials allege Rasmussen, 16, died from a drug overdose at the Millerbergs’ home either late on Sept. 10 or early Sept. 11. Search warrants have alleged the couple were supplying Rasmussen drugs in exchange for baby-sitting.
Criminal charges also were filed on Jan. 31 against Eric Millerberg, 36. He faces a first-degree felony count of child abuse homicide and felony counts of obstructing justice, unlawful sexual activity with a minor and abuse or desecration of a dead body.
Eric Millerberg remains in custody at the Utah State Prison, where he is serving time for violating his probation. His next court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 14.
