In September 2011 on several occasions, the infant boy’s parents noticed he had at least one or more bruises. They also noticed a clicking sound when the child’s back was moved.

The nanny told them the bruises were caused by accidents, the charges state.

When the mother of the child came home one day in September to find he had a black eye, she took him to the emergency room, according to charging documents.

During the emergency room visit, a pediatrician at Primary Children’s Medical Center found scattered bruises across the child’s forehead and a healing fracture to one of his ribs, documents state.

The doctor said her opinion was the kind of injuries on the child to the ribs indicated infant abuse, documents state. She said there was no good explanation for what happened and "all injuries were inflicted by another and were not accidental."
