Utah Gov. Gary Herbert is scheduled to make a "special announcement" Wednesday flanked by state sports officials and a Olympic gold-medal speed skater Eric Heiden.

Herbert will make the announcement at the Utah Olympic Oval in Kearns alongside Lt. Gov. Greg Bell, Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker, Utah Sports Commission Chairman Steven Price and five-time Olympic gold medal winner Heiden.

Herbert told The Salt Lake Tribune recently he is considering whether Utah should make another bid to host the Olympics. Officials are currently celebrating the 10th anniversary of the 2002 Winter Olympics in the state. Herbert said he would make an announcement soon.

He said he is considering how much it would cost to upgrade the Olympic facilities, put together a bid and is also considering the politics that might be at play in the international Olympic landscape.
